Visit to Parliament House, Canberra (21 October 2009)

Eight members of Climate Scientists Australia visited Parliament House in Canberra on 21 October 2009, ahead of the second round of voting for the proposed Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme, to discuss climate change with Australia’s politicians.

The visit aimed to emphasise the urgent need for action on climate change, as well as to provide Australia’s top decision makers the opportunity to personally hear from and discuss climate change with Australia’s top climate scientists. The group spent the morning in over a dozen meetings with individual MPs and Senators. It then presented in a lunchtime briefing, co-hosted by Dr Mal Washer MP, Member for Moore, and Mr Mark Dreyfus MP, Member for Isaacs, to all interested MPs and Senators. Over forty MPs and senators attended the briefing.
