Visit to Parliament House, Canberra (11 March 2010)
Climate Scientists Australia visited Parliament House in Canberra for the second time on 11 March 2010, to discuss climate change with Australia’s politicians. Eight members of the group spent the morning meeting with individual MPs and Senators, and then gave a lunchtime briefing, hosted by Dr Mal Washer MP, Member for Moore, Mr Mark Dreyfus MP, Member for Isaacs, and Senator Scott Ludlum, to all interested MPs and Senators.
With the considerable discussion in the media recently regarding the veracity of certain scientific findings related to climate change and the credibility of the IPCC assessment process, the aim of this visit was to present the facts from the point of view of climate scientists. The group discussed the recent criticisms of climate change science and some recent scientific advances related to global temperature observations and the Great Barrier Reef.
